Case Study - Dust Extraction
Britvic Soft Drinks
Britvic Soft Drinks is a major manufacturer and supplier of soft drinks in numerous flavours and under famous brands including Tango, Pepsi and of course, Britvic.
Problem
A number of vessels in the Dispensary are used for the mixing of powder ingredients for syrup manufacture. Dust extraction from the ingredient hoppers, in the form of galvanised steel extract points and ductwork, was in poor condition and of doubtful effectiveness. There were also concerns about a build-up of dust and debris within the system resulting in reduced performance and hygiene issues.
Solution
Following our survey and assessment, the existing arrangement was dismantled and replaced with new stainless steel ductwork and a Dust Filter of the mechanical-shaker type.
Airborne dust emissions are controlled and exhausted from each mixing hopper. Air flow is always into the hopper openings to contain the dust and reduce spillage and contamination in the working area.
The stainless steel ductwork features access doors for inspection and cleaning purposes. Drop-out sections at the extract points prevent debris falling into the mixing hopper when the Dust Filter and fan are switched off.
The high-capacity and fully weathered Dust Filter is located outside the building and discharges the cleaned air to atmosphere. At suitable operational intervals, the filter shaking system dislodges any dust burden from the filters into the collection bin. The Dust Filter is also equipped with essential explosion relief due to the nature of the materials and dusts involved.
